about

2. Into the World. Eva
She felt safe here, nurtured through these months, her world a rosy cocoon and muffled sounds. And she remembers why she is here, knows what is to come, and welcomes it. But the pain is unexpected; the crushing and pushing, the fear. She holds on, but her memories are fading, and she no longer knows who she is and why she is here, enduring this expulsion into a blinding new world where the first intake of breath is expelled as a cry of shock and anguish. She is born anew. The memories vanish

lyrics

It grips me like a vice
The cursed stranglehold that won’t let go,
And I am forced to move towards my doom,
I know not where I go,

And all my memories are fading fast,
They slip away from me.
I stretch my mind, I strive to grasp,
They slip away from me.
I lose, I lose who I was,
I lose who I was.
I lose, I knew who I was,
I lose who I was.

The walls come crashing in.
They crush me as they push me down
Towards the light, towards the stinging air
That will be my new home.

And I feel lost among the endless space,
The hands that pull me through
Towards forgetfulness. Air sears my lungs,
I cry for what I knew.
I knew, I knew who I was,
I knew who I was.
I knew, I knew who I was,
I knew who I was.
Who I was.
