    Echoes was written by Lisa Tenzin-Dolma, who was joined, under the band name Tenzin, by Zac Ware (guitarist with The Proclaimers) and Peter Ulrich (former percussionist with Dead Can Dance, This Mortal Coil, and The Peter Ulrich Collaboration. Su Hart (of Baka Beyond) and Marick Baxter contributed.
    The original concept was a story, though the songs can be taken individually,

1. The Beginning. Eva
It is time. Eva hesitates, sensing the light swirling around her, nudging her forward. The choice has been made and there is no going back. The light shifts, forms shapes and colours, spirals into a vortex, and she briefly resists. Finn is not here beside her; he is embarking on his own journey. Light and sound, a maelstrom, engulfs her and she is pulled into it, spiralling onwards towards the steady beat of the heart that will be her new source, feeling the first flicker of her own heartbeat.

It beckons me
And the vortex grips then pulls me,
I resist but it still pulls me
From infinity
To a new reality.

In the dark I see
How I’ve been reeled in.
I can hear a distant drumming
I can feel my mother’s heartbeat
